The Donau DampSchiffart Gesellschaft started 1829. In 1857 it had 101 steamers and 359 tugs. It had exclusive right to trade on the Danube between 1846 to 1880, and kept on functioning until the 1920s.

Earlier printings were most often in deeper or darker shades. The Ostrov and Kalaras offices were only open a few months,the Silistria office never opened. Only mint remainders exist.
